A Wedding Gift that Promotes Togetherness

Author: Morris Collins

When it comes time to pick out a wedding gift for that special couple in your life, you want to find something that will communicate exactly how much you care. A gift the couple will fondly remember, when they're walking down memory lane years later, is what you're aiming for.

When you're ready to start shopping, keep in mind, the most appreciated wedding gifts aren't necessarily the most expensive or unusual ones, but those that promote togetherness. To find the perfect gift, think back to your own experiences and you'll likely discover that the most romantic experiences you and your significant other have had involve quiet time alone together and stolen moments, perhaps while on a romantic picnic some magical afternoon.

Whether you hiked to a stream or lake to enjoy the sights, sounds, and smells of nature, brought a picnic basket to an outdoor concert, or just set down a tablecloth on the grass in the backyard, time probably stood still as you sat there together, laughing, nibbling on sandwiches, sipping champagne, just enjoying being together, and making memories that will last a lifetime.

'Going on a picnic is one of the most romantic things a couple can do together,' says Mario Tagliati. He should know. As owner and founder of Picnic Time, a California-based company dedicated to the belief that picnics are a joy to the soul, he has spent a lot of time enjoying picnics with his wife over the decades.

'Romance is vital to a successful relationship and picnics are romantic because the concept is simplicity; leave the world behind and get lost in each other like you did when you first fell in love.' It is with that spirit of romance in mind that Picnic Time created its newest offering, the Catalina Rose picnic basket, which just became available this spring. The handcrafted, oval-shaped basket, which is made of willow and bamboo, is sure to be a popular present among brides this year. Handsomely stylish, it features a red rose pattern on the inside and deluxe service for two.

Included with the basket are a tablecloth, 2 plates, knives, forks and spoons, 2 cotton napkins, 2 glass wine goblets, a corkscrew, cheese knife, salt and pepper shaker set, a cutting board and 2 food storage containers. The hardwood lid provides a flat surface to place your glasses and a bottle of wine on.

Want to make the gift even more special? Tagliati recommends you include a couple of meal ideas for the couple receiving the gift. 'The entr'e can be a simple yet delicious sandwich or cold pasta salad. Be sure to also include some fresh fruit. There's nothing more romantic than feeding each other grapes and chocolate covered strawberries -- and don't forget the wine or champagne.'

Whether they decide to bring your present along on their honeymoon, or put it to use when they get home, the picnic basket you picked out will be enjoyed for many years to come.
